DeeOne clinched the party’s nomination after emerging victorious in the BOOT Party primary election, marking a significant transition from entertainment to active politics.
The comedian announced his emergence in a post on Instagram on Wednesday night, where he expressed appreciation to party members for entrusting him with the mandate.
He described the victory as a responsibility and pledged to prioritise service delivery if elected.
“I want to thank my party, BOOT Party, for the confidence in voting for me to emerge winner of the primary election for Ibeju-Lekki Constituency I,” he wrote.
DeeOne also addressed residents of the constituency, promising a leadership style centred on service rather than authority.
“To Ibeju-Lekki Constituency I, come 2027, by the grace of God, I will be your worker and not your boss,” he said.
The Party ticket victory adds to a growing trend of entertainers making forays into Nigerian politics ahead of the 2027 elections.
Political observers say the development reflects increasing crossover between Nigeria’s entertainment industry and electoral politics as campaigns begin to take shape.
