Promasidor Nigeria restates dairy commitment at Abuja event, boosting local milk production, women empowerment, and sector growth
Promasidor Nigeria Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s dairy sector through sustained investment, local production, and strategic partnerships aimed at improving nutrition and boosting food security across the country.

The company made this known at the World Milk Day 2026 celebration held at the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja, where stakeholders across government, private sector, and development agencies gathered to discuss the future of Nigeria’s dairy industry.
The event was organised in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, the Commercial Dairy Ranchers Association of Nigeria (CODARAN), development partners, dairy farmers, researchers, and industry operators. It was themed “Celebrating Women Dairy Farmers – Promoting Fresh Milk Consumption for a Healthy Nation.”
The gathering also formed part of global activities marking World Milk Day 2026 under the campaign slogan #NowForClimate, which emphasises sustainable food systems and climate-conscious agricultural practices.
Speaking at the event, the Honourable Minister of Livestock Development, Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha, commended private sector participation in Nigeria’s dairy transformation agenda.
He also unveiled the National Dairy Policy Implementation Framework, designed to strengthen local milk production, dairy processing, cold chain systems, milk aggregation, and pasture development nationwide.
Promasidor Nigeria used the platform to restate its long-term commitment to the development of the sector through innovation, investment, and capacity building.
Delivering a goodwill message, the Managing Director of Promasidor Nigeria Limited, François Gillet, said the company remains dedicated to supporting sustainable dairy development in Nigeria while recognising the contributions of women dairy farmers.
He said women play a central role in food security, rural livelihoods, and nutrition improvement across communities.
He also noted that Promasidor continues to align its operations with national development goals through investments in local production and dairy expansion initiatives.
The company highlighted its flagship dairy operation, the Ikun Dairy Farm in Ikun-Amure, Ekiti State, describing it as the largest dairy farm in Nigeria.
According to the company, the farm currently maintains over 750 cattle and produces an average of 25 kilograms of milk daily. It also indirectly supports more than 1,000 jobs across its value chain.
Promasidor added that its investments in dairy development reflect its broader mission of supporting local sourcing, improving nutrition, and contributing to sustainable agricultural growth in Nigeria.
The Chief Technical Officer of Promasidor Nigeria Limited, Brighton Ochieng, also participated in a panel session at the event.
He discussed advancements in dairy farming, including improved genetics, modern farm management practices, and technology-driven solutions such as artificial intelligence to enhance productivity.
Ochieng said innovation remains critical to building a competitive dairy industry capable of meeting Nigeria’s rising demand for milk and dairy products.
He reaffirmed the company’s readiness to continue working with government agencies, development partners, and industry stakeholders to strengthen the dairy value chain.
Stakeholders at the conference emphasised the need to increase local milk production, promote nutrition awareness, empower women dairy farmers, and deepen public-private collaboration to accelerate sector growth.
They also called for sustained investment in infrastructure, training, and modern dairy systems to reduce dependence on imports and improve national self-sufficiency.
Promasidor Nigeria reiterated its commitment to delivering quality nutrition through trusted brands while supporting sustainable agricultural development and local value creation.
