N150m Lagos Burglary: INTERPOL and Nigerian police arrest an accountant accused of stealing valuables worth over N150 million in Ikeja

A 50-year-old accountant, Olusola Ajayi Joshua, has been arrested by the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) and the Nigeria Police Force over an alleged burglary involving valuables worth more than N150 million in Ikeja, Lagos State.

The arrest was carried out at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, after Joshua returned to Nigeria nearly a year after leaving the country while investigations into the case were ongoing.

According to investigators, Joshua had worked for the complainant’s late father for 17 years before becoming a suspect in the alleged burglary.

Police said the case dates back to 2025 when valuables estimated to be worth over N150 million were reportedly stolen from a property in Ikeja.

Authorities alleged that Joshua departed Nigeria for Canada in July 2025 as detectives continued their investigation into the incident.

Following his departure, operatives at the Zone 2 Police Headquarters reportedly collaborated with INTERPOL to track his movements and place an alert on his international travel documents.

Investigators said the coordinated effort led to the flagging of his passport, enabling law enforcement authorities to monitor his return to the country.

The breakthrough came when Joshua arrived at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, where he was apprehended by security operatives.

Police sources disclosed that the suspect is expected to undergo further questioning as investigators seek to conclude inquiries into the N150m Lagos Burglary case.

Authorities added that the outcome of the investigation will determine the next legal steps, including possible prosecution.

The arrest highlights increasing cooperation between Nigerian law enforcement agencies and international policing bodies in tracking suspects who leave the country during criminal investigations.

Officials have not yet disclosed the specific items allegedly stolen or the exact circumstances surrounding the reported burglary, but investigations remain ongoing.
