Davido Mayorkun Moment: Toyin Adewale recalls breaking down in tears after witnessing her son’s career-changing opportunity with Davido

Speaking during an interview with Biola Bayo, Adewale recalled the moment she returned to Nigeria after spending nine years in the United States and saw how far her son had progressed in his music career.

According to the actress, one of the defining moments came when Afrobeats star Davido personally contacted Mayorkun and invited him to a recording session.

Adewale said she was present when the call came in and remembered how excited her son became after receiving the invitation.

“The first time I came back from America, I came back after nine years. When I got back, and I saw them, I stepped to one side and cried. I said thank you, God because they really made me proud,” she said.

She recalled that Davido asked Mayorkun to come to the studio the following day to record a song, a session that eventually produced Eleko, the hit track widely regarded as the singer’s breakthrough record.

Adewale described the moment as both emotional and unforgettable, noting that her son could hardly contain his excitement after the invitation.

Reflecting on Mayorkun’s journey, she revealed that his passion for music had been evident long before fame arrived.

According to her, the singer, whose real name is Mayowa Adewale, spent years writing poems and nurturing his love for music while working towards a professional career.

“Mayowa has always been someone who writes poems and loves to sing,” she said.

The actress also praised Davido and members of his team for the respect and warmth they showed her during that period.

She described the Afrobeats star as pleasant and humble, adding that members of his crew welcomed her warmly and affectionately addressed her as “Mummy.”

Expressing gratitude for her son’s success, Adewale offered prayers for Davido, Mayorkun and their associates, wishing them continued prosperity and growth in their careers.
