A viral video showing a Nigerian police officer allegedly assaulting citizens has sparked outrage online, with Nigerians calling for an investigation into the incident.

The footage, which surfaced on social media on Monday, June 15, 2026, appears to show an officer using a cutlass to hit members of the public, leading to widespread condemnation from viewers.

Several social media users tagged the Nigeria Police Force, demanding clarification and urgent action over the alleged conduct of the officer.

One user questioned the identity of the individuals involved, asking authorities to address the situation and prevent what was described as alleged abuse against civilians.

Another commenter criticised the incident, arguing that individuals entrusted with authority must exercise restraint and professionalism when dealing with citizens.
