MasterChef Nigeria: Loye gets burnt by Jollof challenge, exits show

MasterChef Nigeria eliminates Loye after a difficult jollof rice challenge as the Top 6 contestants battle for the next stage

MasterChef Nigeria contestant Loye has exited the competition after struggling with a demanding jollof rice challenge that tested the creativity and technical skills of the Top 6 contestants.

The latest Black Apron Day episode pushed contestants to create a Nigerian jollof rice feast inspired by two regions of the country, with judges expecting strong flavours, cultural identity and a dish that placed jollof rice at the centre.

For Loye, the challenge proved difficult as his final dish failed to meet the judges’ expectations. Although they recognised his potential, the judges felt the meal did not highlight the main element of the challenge.

Chef Stone praised Loye’s ability and said he had the qualities needed to grow into a strong cook, but noted that the dish presented on the day was not enough to secure his place in the competition.

Chef Eros also encouraged Loye to bring more emotion and confidence into his cooking, stressing that successful dishes require both skill and personal connection.

Following the tense evaluation, Loye became the latest contestant to leave MasterChef Nigeria.

Isabella and David also faced pressure after landing in the bottom three. Isabella’s attempt to recover from a difficult previous challenge was not enough, as the judges felt her dish contained too many competing flavours.

David also struggled after failing to complete his dish within the required time, placing him among the weakest performers of the challenge.

However, Favy delivered the standout performance of the day. Despite already holding an immunity pin, she impressed the judges with a well-executed dish filled with strong flavours.

Her achievement earned her a one-year supply of Sonia products and an exclusive dining experience with her family at Ile Eros.

With Loye’s departure, the competition has entered a more intense stage as remaining contestants fight for a place in the finale.

Produced by Primedia Group, MasterChef Nigeria continues on Africa Magic, supported by Power Oil, Indomie, Dano Milk, Malta Guinness, Sonia Tomato and other leading brands.

The show airs on Sundays at 7 pm on Africa Magic Showcase and Africa Magic Family, with repeat broadcasts during the week.
