INEC has released impressive Ekiti voter registration figures with 1,059,360 registered voters and over 97 percent PVC collection, highlighting strong public readiness for the June 20 governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission through its chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu, Ekiti State Resident Electoral Commissioner, and key stakeholders in Ado-Ekiti announced on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, the release of comprehensive statistics showing robust Ekiti voter registration and Permanent Voter Card collection ahead of the state governorship election.

A total of 1,059,360 voters have been registered for the poll scheduled for Saturday, June 20, marking a notable increase from previous cycles such as the 988,923 recorded in 2022.

Of these, 1,028,929 Permanent Voter Cards have been collected, representing an impressive 97.1 percent collection rate and leaving just 30,431 uncollected.

This strong performance reflects sustained mobilisation efforts by INEC, political parties, civil society groups, and community leaders, including extensions to the PVC collection deadline and targeted outreach programmes.

The high uptake demonstrates growing civic awareness among Ekiti residents, many of whom view participation as vital to shaping the state’s future development.

Professor Yakubu and his team have emphasised that voters without physical cards can still participate through the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, providing reassurance and inclusivity.

Ado-Ekiti Local Government Area leads with the highest number of registered voters at approximately 189,000, while several other areas achieved collection rates exceeding 98 percent.

The figures come against a backdrop of historically lower voter turnout in Ekiti elections, which stood at around 36.5 percent in 2022 despite solid registration numbers.

Analysts see the current momentum as encouraging, though sustained efforts will be needed on election day to translate registration success into actual participation.

INEC has maintained a balanced approach by urging all political parties to scrutinise the voter register and submit any observations promptly, while committing to a credible, transparent, and peaceful process.
