The homecoming ceremony is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, July 7, at 11:00 a.m. at the Rotary Centre, District 9112 Office, Ikeja, where Rotarians and supporters are expected to celebrate Okedeyi’s safe return after the cross-continental journey.
In a message announcing the event, the club described the expedition as more than a long-distance ride, saying it represented a bold humanitarian mission undertaken in support of Rotary International’s campaign to eradicate polio worldwide.
“This was not an ordinary journey. It was a courageous mission filled with countless challenges, risks, and uncertainties.
Yet, through God’s divine protection and grace, our President completed this remarkable expedition safely, flying the flag of Rotary high while promoting our fight to eradicate polio,” the statement read.
The club encouraged members to attend the reception wearing End Polio Now campaign attire and expressed optimism that the District Polio Committee would provide commemorative souvenirs for participants.
“As members of this great club, the least we can do is to stand in solidarity with him and give him the warm welcome he truly deserves,” the organisers said.
The event is expected to celebrate not only Okedeyi’s endurance but also Rotary’s longstanding commitment to humanitarian service and disease prevention.
The Emmanuel Okedeyi Polio Ride forms part of broader advocacy efforts to sustain public awareness and support for the global eradication of polio.
For decades, Rotary International has been one of the leading partners in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, contributing funding, volunteer mobilisation and public education campaigns that have helped reduce polio cases worldwide by more than 99 per cent.

Organisers said the reception would provide an opportunity for Rotarians to recognise Okedeyi’s dedication while reaffirming the club’s commitment to the End Polio Now campaign and Rotary’s enduring mission of service above self.
