The Yayi Youth Vanguard has announced plans to mobilise more than 400,000 votes for Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola ahead of the 2027 Ogun State governorship election, following the inauguration of polling unit marshals across the state.

The youth support group made the pledge during a sensitisation programme and mobilisation event in Ijebu Ode, where it inaugurated coordinators assigned to all 5,042 polling units in Ogun.

Olamide Lawal, Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Youth Development and convener of the group, said the polling unit marshals would lead grassroots engagement efforts by encouraging young voters to participate in the political process.

According to Lawal, each marshal has been tasked with mobilising at least 75 young voters through community outreach, advocacy and voter engagement activities in support of Adeola’s governorship ambition.

He said the initiative was created to encourage youth involvement in politics and leadership, adding that young people must take an active role in shaping the future of Ogun State and Nigeria.

Lawal urged youths to view political participation as a civic responsibility, particularly at a time when technology and artificial intelligence are transforming societies and creating new leadership challenges.

Political stakeholder Otunba Bankole Olugbile also called for greater youth representation in governance, noting that young Nigerians make up a significant part of the population and should have stronger involvement in decision-making.

Representing the state coordinator of the group, Comrade Ojo Emmanuel, Comrade Otubanjo Olalekan encouraged young people to support leadership initiatives focused on development and prepare themselves for future responsibilities.

Councillor representing Ward 1 in Ijebu Ode Local Government, Hakeem Idowu, urged youths to back Adeola’s governorship ambition, expressing confidence that his leadership would expand opportunities for youth empowerment.

Meanwhile, the APC women leader in Ijebu Ode Local Government, Mrs Ajayi Olusola, called on Adeola to prioritise the inclusion of women and young people in governance if elected.

She also praised Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration for promoting gender inclusion and urged future leaders to continue building on those efforts.

The mobilisation drive comes as political activities gradually increase ahead of the 2027 Ogun governorship election, with parties and support groups beginning early grassroots engagement across the state.
