The comedian thanks loyal fans and hints at a stronger return without revealing what kept him out of the public eye
Nigerian comedian and actor Samuel Perry, popularly known as Broda Shaggi, broke his months-long silence on Friday, August 7, 2026, thanking fans for standing by him during his prolonged absence from the public space and hinting at an eventual return to the entertainment scene.

The comedian, who has largely kept away from social engagements, public appearances, comedy shows and his usual online activities in recent months, said the continued support from his followers had meant more to him than he could adequately express.
In an emotional message shared on his WhatsApp channel, Broda Shaggi acknowledged the fans who continued to check on him despite his silence.
“To everyone who’s still here… waiting, checking in, showing love, and holding me down even through the silence, thank you,” he wrote.
“I don’t think y’all truly understand how much that means to me.”
The message marked the most significant public communication from the entertainer since his prolonged withdrawal from the spotlight.
His words offered reassurance to supporters who had spent months wondering about his wellbeing and waiting for an explanation.
Broda Shaggi, however, did not disclose what had kept him away.
Instead, the comedian indicated that he was not yet ready to tell the full story, suggesting that more details could emerge when he feels able to discuss what he has been experiencing.
“I wish I could tell y’all everything right now… but I can’t. Not yet,” he said.
“Just know I haven’t forgotten about you, and I haven’t stopped thinking about the day I can finally come back and really be ME with y’all again. I’m hoping that day comes soon.”
He also promised that his eventual return would be stronger, while recognising the time he had lost away from the scene.
“And when it does, I promise I’m coming back better, stronger, and ready to make up for all this lost time,” he added.
His message ended on an especially personal note, with the comedian expressing affection for the audience that has followed his career from his early social media comedy days.
“I LOOOOOOOOR Y’ALL SOOOO MUCH. Thank you for staying. Thank you for being patient with me. Thank you for still being here,” he wrote.
The renewed communication comes months after reports of an alleged shooting involving the comedian while he was reportedly filming a comedy skit around the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State in March.
The circumstances surrounding that reported incident have remained unclear.
At the time, the Ogun State Police Command said it had commenced an investigation but stressed that it could not confirm that Broda Shaggi had been shot anywhere within Ogun State.
The command also urged the public not to circulate unverified information while investigators established what had happened.
“For the sake of clarity, the Command cannot confirm that Broda Shaggi was shot anywhere within Ogun State,” the command’s spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said at the time.
“Members of the public are kindly advised to refrain from spreading unverified information and allow the investigation to run its course.”
Lagos police, meanwhile, said detectives were alerted by a hospital about a gunshot victim receiving treatment and identified the patient as Broda Shaggi.
Reports at the time said he had an injury to his thigh, although police noted that the reported Sango-Ota location was outside Lagos State’s jurisdiction.
Contemporary reports also said the comedian was initially taken to a hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos before being referred to another medical facility in Ikeja.
However, neither the precise circumstances of the reported injury nor a detailed account from Broda Shaggi himself was publicly established.
The uncertainty surrounding the episode fuelled concern among fans, particularly as the entertainer subsequently remained largely absent from the public eye.
His silence became more noticeable because of the contrast with the energetic online presence that had helped make him one of Nigeria’s recognisable skit makers.
Broda Shaggi built his reputation through a distinctive comic character, fast-paced performances and social media sketches before expanding into acting and other entertainment projects.
There was a brief sign of his return in July, when he resurfaced on Instagram with a new photograph.
The low-key appearance prompted relief among followers who had been monitoring his absence, although it did not provide an explanation for the months away.
Friday’s message goes further by directly addressing those supporters and acknowledging the patience they have shown.
For now, Broda Shaggi has chosen not to disclose the personal circumstances behind his withdrawal.
His decision leaves important questions unanswered, but his message also signals that he remains hopeful about returning to the work and audience that have defined much of his public career.
His promise to come back “better” and “stronger” may offer his fans their clearest indication yet that the prolonged silence could eventually give way to a fuller return.
