Rotary District 9111 strengthens medical, surgical mission across Lagos, Ogun

New screening points across Lagos and Ogun are designed to bring routine and specialised health checks closer to residents

As of Sunday, 9 August 2026, Rotarian Bukola Olabisi Bakare, District Governor of Rotary International District 9111, and the district’s healthcare partners have expanded screening access across Lagos and neighbouring parts of Ogun State through a network of designated private hospitals offering routine and specialised medical checks.

The arrangement places screening points in several established healthcare facilities, creating a more distributed pathway for residents who may otherwise have to travel considerable distances for diagnostic services.

The locations stretch from Ikeja GRA, Egbe, Lekki Phase 1 and Gbagada to Amuwo-Odofin, Okota, Akowonjo, Ogba, Ikorodu, Ota and Abeokuta.

The spread gives the initiative a broad geographical reach across mainland Lagos, the island axis and adjoining communities in Ogun.

Among the designated facilities is Oohbee Hospital on Kudaki Road, Egbe, while High Rocks Fetal Medicine and Genetic Diagnosis Centre serves residents around Lekki Phase 1. High Rocks is particularly equipped for specialised fetal and genetic services, including prenatal screening, genetic diagnosis and ultrasound-based assessments. (HighRocks)

Aniyun Hospital has points in Ifako-Gbagada and Sossa-Ijebu, while Ace Medicare Clinics Limited is listed along Idiroko Road in Ota. Angel and Eagle Specialist Hospital provides another point of contact in Abeokuta.

Other designated facilities include Amuwo Medical Centre in Mile 2, Gracevalley Medical Center in Okota, Krown Hospital in the Akowonjo area, Hanoville Specialist Hospital and Fertility Centre in Ogba, The Excellence Hospital around Ebute-Ikorodu and O’Shola Hospital for residents across the wider Ikorodu corridor.

The network also includes an Ikeja GRA location, strengthening coverage around one of Lagos’ major commercial and residential centres.

The distributed model is significant in a city where distance, traffic and the cost of repeated travel can discourage people from completing medical checks.

By placing services closer to residential communities, the initiative seeks to make early investigation a more practical part of everyday healthcare.

The approach also builds on Rotary District 9111’s established record of community-based medical intervention.

In April 2025, Rotary Districts 9111 and 9112, working with the Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas, organised a free medical mission in Lagos and Ogun.

The programme provided services including prostate cancer screening, sickle cell screening, dental treatment, ophthalmology, mental health consultations and general medical consultations.

The district has also supported specialised interventions.

Its records show previous cancer screening for women, eye-screening initiatives and surgical outreach programmes covering procedures such as hernia repair, breast lump excision and fibroid removal.

The latest expansion comes under Bakare’s 2026-2027 administration, which has placed healthcare delivery among its central humanitarian priorities.

In July, Bakare outlined a proposed ₦1.4 billion humanitarian agenda for the district, including a planned ₦200 million mega medical outreach for underserved communities in Lagos and Ogun and an estimated ₦800 million 60-bed mental health facility at the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Yaba.

“At the end of the year, success will not be measured by meetings held, but by lives transformed,” Bakare said while outlining the administration’s priorities.

That emphasis on measurable community impact gives the screening network a wider significance beyond the individual facilities.

The objective is not simply to add more locations, but to reduce the practical barriers that can stand between residents and timely medical attention.

For patients requiring specialised assessment, the network can also provide an important first step towards referral.

A resident who receives an initial screening at a nearby facility can be directed for further investigation or treatment where necessary, rather than navigating the healthcare system without guidance.

The participating hospitals already form part of Lagos’ wider private healthcare ecosystem.

Several of the listed facilities, including Oohbee Hospital, Aniyun Hospital and Krown Hospital, appear in established healthcare provider directories, while High Rocks maintains specialist services in fetal medicine and genetic diagnosis.

Residents have been advised to contact the relevant centres before visiting to confirm available services, appointment requirements, documentation and operating arrangements. Availability may differ from one facility to another.
