Family and well-wishers launch urgent search after the teenager reportedly disappeared shortly after arriving in Akure from Osogbo

The family of 14-year-old Akintola Ayomide on Sunday, August 30, 2026, appealed for public assistance in locating the teenager after Akintola Ayomide reportedly went missing in Akure, Ondo State, shortly after arriving from Osogbo, Osun State.

The appeal, which has been widely circulated on social media, stated that Akintola Ayomide was handed over to a commercial driver travelling from Osogbo to Akure earlier in the day.

According to information shared by relatives, the driver later reported that the teenager alighted from the vehicle upon arrival in Akure.

Since then, family members say there has been no confirmed contact with Akintola Ayomide, prompting an urgent search effort.

The disappearance has generated growing concern among relatives, friends and members of the public, many of whom have begun sharing the appeal online in the hope of generating leads.

A contact number released by the family urged anyone with useful information to call 0803 068 0366 or report to the nearest police station.

“Please share this post as widely as possible. Someone out there may have seen her,” the family said in the public appeal.

The case highlights the distressing reality faced by families when a child suddenly becomes unaccounted for during routine travel.

In many similar incidents across Nigeria, rapid public awareness campaigns and community cooperation have played a crucial role in helping authorities and families reunite missing children with their loved ones.

The search for Missing Akintola Ayomide has also drawn attention because the teenager was reportedly travelling between two major South-West cities, a route used daily by hundreds of commuters.

Family members hope that passengers, transport workers, traders or residents in Akure may have seen the teenager after she reportedly left the vehicle.

While no evidence of foul play has been publicly disclosed, relatives are urging members of the public to avoid speculation and instead focus on sharing verified information that could assist ongoing efforts to locate the girl.

The emotional appeal has resonated widely online, with many social media users offering prayers and reposting the notice in a powerful show of community support.

As of Sunday evening, there had been no public announcement confirming that Akintola Ayomide had been found.

Anyone with credible information regarding the whereabouts of the teenager is encouraged to contact the family through the number provided or notify the nearest police station immediately.
