Alumni of Ipapo Community Grammar School have launched a ₦500 million fundraising campaign to finance major infrastructure projects as the institution marks its 50th anniversary.

The golden jubilee initiative is expected to bring together old students, community leaders, education stakeholders and philanthropists in support of a comprehensive renewal programme aimed at improving learning and recreational facilities at the school.

According to the alumni association, the fundraising drive will prioritise the construction of a modern multipurpose hall alongside the rehabilitation and upgrade of key academic and administrative facilities across the campus.

The association said the projects are designed to create a more conducive environment for teaching and learning while preserving the legacy of one of the community’s longstanding secondary schools.

Alumni leaders described the anniversary as an opportunity to give back to the institution that shaped generations of professionals and public servants, noting that many of the school’s facilities require significant improvement after decades of use.

They added that the proposed multipurpose hall would serve as a venue for academic activities, examinations, conferences, cultural events and other community engagements, reducing the pressure on existing facilities.

Beyond physical infrastructure, the anniversary celebration is also expected to strengthen the bond among former students and encourage greater investment in educational development within the community.

The alumni association expressed confidence that the ₦500 million target is achievable through contributions from old students at home and in the diaspora, corporate organisations and well-meaning individuals committed to advancing education.

As preparations for the 50th anniversary continue, organisers say the fundraising campaign represents a long-term investment in the future of Ipapo Community Grammar School and the generations of students who will benefit from the upgraded facilities.
