Mikel Arteta, Arsenal manager, has signed a new contract with the Premier League champions that will keep him at the Emirates Stadium until June 2030, extending his tenure beyond a decade after a transformative spell in charge.
The 44-year-old Spaniard’s previous agreement was due to expire at the end of the 2026/27 season, but Arsenal have now secured his long-term future following the club’s landmark 2025/26 campaign.

Arteta joined Arsenal in December 2019 and has overseen a remarkable rise from a side outside the Premier League’s top four into champions of England.
Last season, Arteta guided Arsenal to their first league title in 22 years, making the Spaniard only the seventh manager in the club’s history to lead the team to a league championship.
Arsenal also returned to the Champions League under his management and reached the competition’s final last season, where Paris Saint-Germain prevailed on penalties.
The new Arteta Arsenal deal represents a significant vote of confidence from Arsenal’s ownership after a period in which the club have established themselves as consistent challengers at the top of English football.
Arteta said extending his stay was a privilege and pointed to the relationship he has developed with the club since taking charge.
“It’s a privilege to commit my future to the club and to continue to work with exceptional people who want the best for Arsenal.”
He added that Arsenal’s progress represented only the beginning of what the club could achieve together.
“We have already built a special bond and created memories that will last a lifetime, and what is so exciting is that this is only the beginning of what we can achieve together.”
Arsenal co-chairs Stan Kroenke and Josh Kroenke also welcomed the extension, describing Arteta’s time at the club as an incredible journey and expressing their determination to build on last season’s success.
The Kroenkes said they shared a special bond with Arteta and were proud of what had been achieved since his return to the club in 2019.
Arteta’s tenure began with an FA Cup triumph in his first season, before Arsenal gradually developed into regular Premier League title contenders.
His management has also coincided with the club’s return to sustained Champions League football.
The scale of the transformation became particularly clear during the 2025/26 campaign, when Arsenal finally ended a 22-year wait for the English top-flight title.
The achievement followed three successive second-place finishes, adding weight to the sense that Arsenal’s long-term project under Arteta had finally reached its defining breakthrough.
There was disappointment in Europe, however, as Arsenal’s Champions League run ended in the final against Paris Saint-Germain.
The French champions retained the trophy after winning the final on penalties.
Arsenal began the current Premier League season strongly but currently sit second, three points behind Manchester City after suffering a surprise 3-0 defeat to Brighton before the international break.
That setback provides an immediate reminder that Arteta’s next challenge will not simply be to maintain Arsenal’s status as champions, but to establish sustained dominance at home while competing again for European honours.
The new contract provides the Spaniard with a long-term platform to pursue that ambition.
Arsenal return to Premier League action on Saturday when they host Leeds, with Arteta’s new agreement now confirmed and the club looking to respond to their latest league setback.

If Arteta sees out the new contract, his tenure will stretch into an 11th year, making the extension one of the clearest indications yet of Arsenal’s faith in the manager who has taken the club from rebuilding project to Premier League champions.
