A 35-year-old woman, Añulika Onyeanusi, has appeared before the Anambra State High Court in Awka over allegations of sexually abusing and exploiting her two daughters, aged seven and nine.
Onyeanusi was arraigned on Tuesday on a 14-count charge filed by the Anambra State Government, bordering on alleged rape, sexual abuse and exploitation, compelling children to engage in sexual conduct, emotional and psychological abuse, and putting them in fear of physical injury.

She pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
The prosecution alleged that Onyeanusi sexually abused her children with a sex toy and used them in the production of pornographic materials and performances.
The alleged offences reportedly took place between November 2025 and September 2026 at the defendant’s residence on Ezego Ojoto Street, Akpaka GRA, Onitsha.
According to the prosecution, the defendant intentionally and knowingly subjected the children to sexual acts involving their bodies.
The charges were filed by the Anambra State Government under various provisions of the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law of Anambra State, 2017, and the Child’s Rights Law of Anambra State, 2006.
The prosecution was led by the Anambra State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Tobechukwu Nweke, SAN.
Following the defendant’s plea, her counsel, Mrs Chikodili Nwaka-Ohuoha, applied for bail.
Justice Peace Otti, who presided over the Children, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Court, adjourned the matter until November 27, 2026, for ruling on the bail application.
The allegations against Onyeanusi remain subject to determination by the court, as she has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
