The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 21-year-old butcher, Selim Ayodele, over the alleged killing of his 26-year-old colleague, Ibrahim Wasiu, following a disagreement at their workplace in Alagbole.

The incident reportedly occurred on October 18, 2026, after the two men had finished their day’s work at a cow meat-selling outlet.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the incident was reported at Ajuwon Police Station at about 8pm, prompting police intervention.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the disagreement allegedly began over who should sweep the floor at the workplace.

“During the altercation, the suspect allegedly picked up a knife and stabbed the deceased in the left side of his chest before twisting the weapon,” the statement said.

Following the alleged attack, Wasiu was rushed to Life Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed him dead on arrival.

The allegation has not been established in court.

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to responding promptly to incidents, conducting thorough investigations and prosecuting suspects in accordance with the law.

Ojajuni also urged residents to exercise restraint when disagreements arise and to seek peaceful ways of resolving disputes.
