The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has outlined channels through which Nigerians can report suspected fake, substandard and unregistered medicines, as well as adverse reactions to drugs and other regulated medical products.
The agency urged consumers to report suspected violations and provide relevant information to help it investigate products and identify potential safety concerns.
In a video shared by the agency on Saturday, NAFDAC said: “If you experience an unusual or adverse reaction to a medicine, other regulated medical products or vaccines, report it through the MedSafety app available for download on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.”
Reports of adverse reactions can also be sent by email to pharmacovigilance@nafdac.gov.ng or through the e-reporting platform on the agency’s official website.
For suspected fake, substandard or unregistered medical products, NAFDAC directed the public to the NAFDAC Greenbook application, available on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
Other reporting channels include the Greenbook web platform at greenbook.nafdac.gov.ng, email at sf.alert@nafdac.gov.ng, and the telephone number 0800-162-3322.
The agency stressed that timely reports from the public support early detection, investigation and removal of unsafe products from circulation.
