President Bola Tinubu on Saturday blamed his political opponents for creating hunger and poverty in Nigeria, insisting that his administration is working to eradicate the challenges.
Tinubu made the remarks at the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign flag-off at Ranchers Bees Stadium (also known as Kaduna Township Stadium) in Kaduna State.
“I hear my opponent talk about hunger and poverty. Who created it? They did. They created poverty; they created hunger. We are trying to eradicate it. We pay salaries regularly. Our governors are working,” the President said.
He thanked the people of Kaduna for their support in the 2023 election and appealed for a renewed mandate in the 2027 presidential poll, scheduled for January 16.
Tinubu promised a second term focused on prosperity, continuity and progress, assuring supporters that they would not regret voting for him again.
He also praised APC governors for their development efforts and regular payment of salaries in their states.
The rally marked the formal launch of the ruling party’s nationwide campaign for the 2027 general elections.
