Former four-division world champion Roy Jones Jr has identified Anthony Joshua’s punching power as his strongest weapon against Tyson Fury ahead of their scheduled heavyweight contest in Cardiff.
Jones Jr, speaking in an interview with iFL TV, said he was not favouring either fighter, describing himself as a supporter of both boxers and praising their contributions to the sport.

“I am really not slipping towards one or the other. I like both guys; I am both guys’ fan. I think that both of them have done boxing a lot of great wonders, a lot of great things and have given boxing a lot of great nights,” he said.
However, the American acknowledged that Fury’s ability to adjust his tactics during a fight could give the former heavyweight champion an advantage.
He described Fury as a boxer who often finds ways to solve problems in the ring, but warned that Joshua possesses the power to end the contest with a single decisive attack.
“One thing about Fury is that he has always been that guy who always seems to be able to figure things out. So, I know that he is good at figuring things out, and you have got to lean towards him on that but, at the same time, AJ has the power to take him out,” Jones Jr said.
The boxing legend suggested that the contest could be decided by either Fury’s tactical intelligence or Joshua’s knockout ability.
He explained that if the fight became a battle of adjustments and strategy, Fury could find a way to overcome Joshua. However, if it turned into a contest of power, he believed Joshua would have the advantage.
“So, somebody is either going to get figured out, or somebody is going to take somebody out.
“If it is a ‘take-out’, I think that AJ takes him out, but if it is a ‘figure-out’, then I think that Fury figures him out,” he added.
Fury is known for his movement, size, defensive awareness and ability to change tactics during fights, while Joshua has built a reputation around his punching power and finishing ability.
The scheduled December 11 meeting at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff is expected to attract considerable attention, with the WBA heavyweight title reportedly at stake and the contest set to be broadcast live on Netflix.
Fury enters the fight with a reported professional record of 36 wins, two defeats and one draw, while Joshua has 30 victories and four defeats.
Both British fighters have previously held heavyweight world titles, and victory would strengthen their respective claims to another major championship achievement.
