A production manager of a musical contest in 2019 and sponsored by a popular lager beer, Tinuola Akinola, has narrated how police almost turned a case on its head and accused him of murder of one of the project’s writer in the East, KP (Kagbo).
As the event turned a year since happened today, Akinola took to his social media to appreciate God for preserving his life and saving him from jail when he was detained over the death of his colleague.
The grateful father of two also revealed that if not for the timely intervention of organiser, a pan-African urban music TV channel, he would have been wearing prison uniform by now.
Here is what he wrote:
To God be the glory for all the great things he has done.
Today in history last year, one of my writer on a musical contest project in the East, KP a young and talented write, went swimming after our show in Asaba and drowned.
The team waited for me to return to hotel from location, as the Production Manager, after discussion with my Producer, Project Manager, Director, hotel manager and other people present, we took him to FMH Asaba to ascertain his state, there he was confirmed dead and body deposited at the morgue.
Police asked me to report to the station to write statement after which I was detained for 48hrs behind the counter with his room mate who was not even at the scene like me.
The room mate wife lost her pregnancy when the husband informed her of the situation he was in.
My wife wasn’t herself as well, she was calling me like every 5mins, at a point I lost it and shouted at her to never call me again, she then start sending sms which I replied to.
It wasn’t a playable experience at all. They nearly roped me and Henry, but when organiser changed it for the hotel, they find way out.
Akinola, while thanking God, mourned the passing of a ‘beautiful soul’.
KP was a beautiful soul, easy going, no issues with anybody and very brilliant. He is a guy I so much loved and I prayed he met favour of God. All of us have our weaknesses, he had his, but that did not stop him from being who he wanted to be. May his soul continue to rest in peace.
I thank God too for my life and that of Henry. Maybe we would have been convicted for what we did not know about today, but He that slumber nor sleep not was on the throne. I will forever praise His holy name.
