Aside from the gloom that greeted the launch of the sixtieth anniversary logo by the Nigerian president, Mohammadu Buhari, on Wednesday due to the rancour in the country over what was termed ‘inhuman’ increment in the pump price and electricity tariff, Nigerians have again slammed the presidency after indications emerged that the anniversary logo may have been plagiarized.
The new anniversary logo, which comprises of ’60’ with the ‘0’ represented with a diamond on a Nigerian map at the background, has led many Nigerians complaining of the leadership’s lack of creativity.
Buhari, who was excited about the new logo, said the elements represented the Nigerian spirit.
“Everywhere you go, Nigerians are sparkling like diamonds in the pack, whether in academia, business, innovation, music, movie, entertainment, fashion £ culture,” he said.
The diamond’s striking resemblance of that of a Russian gold mine as shown in the image below is not easy to miss and it’s believed that such could lead to copyright infringement suit against the country.
Some wondered why didn’t the government throw the pitch open to allow for diversity in ideas, while others have issues with the amount spent.

The presidency is yet to react to the allegation as at the time of publishing.
