Aishatu Aliyu, wife of Aliyu Muhammad, village head of Tsara in Rogo local government area of Kano state, has been kidnapped.
Gunmen were said to have stormed the residence of the village head at 1am on Friday before whisking her away.
The abductors reportedly shot sporadically into the air before taking her away.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Haruna Gunduwawa, information officer of Karaye Emirate, which Tsara is part of, said efforts are in place to secure her release.
“The district head notified the Emir in a report that, people in Rogo district are presently living in fear as kidnapping cases are on the rise explaining that, within two months four cases were recorded”, Gunduwawa said.
He said the emir has appealed to law enforcement agents to beef-up security in the community.
“The Emir of Karaye Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar II renew his plea to the security operatives to improve measures put in place to end the menace.”
When contacted, Abdullahi Haruna, the police spokesman in the state, said the command is not aware of the incident.
