A pair of burglars were apologetic and even offered to pay for damages after they discovered that they accidentally broke into the wrong house.
According to Sarnia police, the suspects broke into a 700 block Kipling Street home around 7:15 p.m. on December 11, 2020.
The owners of the home, who were inside watching T.V. at the time, described hearing a “loud bang” before being confronted by two individuals.
One of the suspects was reportedly wielding a hammer and asking for money that was owed to him until they realized they were in the wrong home.
The report said the criminals were apologetic and even offered to pay for the damages before leaving the home.
“The two men realized that they had broken into the wrong address and left the home without further incident after apologizing and offering to pay for the damage,” A spokesperson from Sarina Police Service said.
The Police later received a tip and arrested the suspects.
Deanis John Smith, 27, of Keswick and Cameron Joseph Kemmis, 27, of Sarnia, are facing charges of break and enter, mischief under $5000, and possession of weapons dangerous.
