At a private event yesterday, Friday, Januray 17, 2020, Abolore Adegbola Akande, popularly known as 9ice, was treated to a surprise 40th birthday bash by friends from all sectors of the Nigerian entertainment and media industries.
The celebration was just as opulent as you’d expect for a living legend, whose songs still remain relevant and relatable right from the day ‘Gongo Aso’ brought him to limelight till date.
9ice has everything to be grateful for as his life journey has be filled with ups and downs. He recently had cause to smile again when he tie the knot with Sunkanmi Ajala, whom he has a daughter with and also responsible in healing his heart after Toni Payne was alleged to have scandalously slashed it over eight years ago.
A multi-award-winning Nigerian artiste known for his powerful use of the Yoruba language in his music as well as his versatility, proverbial lyrics and unique style of delivery, 9ice carved a niche for himself in the entertainment industry with his lyrical abilities.
Some of his most popular songs aside ‘Gongo Aso’, include ‘Little Money’ and ‘Make Dem Talk’.
9ice was born into a polygamous home of five wives and nine children. His family hails from Ogbomoso in Oyo State, South-West Nigeria. He, however, grew up in Bariga Lagos state.
The White & Black themed dinner was held at Circa Non Pareil, Lekki, Lagos.
