‘Polygamy’ The best panacea for happy home in modern society

The general definition of polygamy is the practice or custom of having more than one wife or husband at the same time. However, merely giving this definition some thoughts, it might sound unethical and set off a lay man. Hence, we shall redefine polygamy to be the alternative for broken marriages and substitute for unhappy homes.

In recent times, the rate of broken marriages has skyrocketed, as majority of couples have become totally incapable of keeping their homes. Also, on the other side is the rate of infidelity in marriages and it has become very easy to count marriages that haven’t yet been soiled with infidelity. However, while polygamy might seem unbearable, it seems to be a easier solution if properly analysed.

The idea of “one man one woman”, “for better for worse”, “till death do us part” has been over-flogged by society. It is not a denial of fact that these three phases are almost humanly impossible. These ideas and logic have been packaged, constructed and patched based on human emotions and feelings without putting into consideration the possibility of individuals not being capable of pulling through the worst, enduring one man/woman and parting only when death wins. Hence, the need for the easiest and safest escape the moment the tingling feeling fizzles out and things get twisted.

The University of Wisconsin, in 1998, surveyed more than a thousand societies and found that only 186 were monogamous. (Officially, that is: adultery exists in all times and places.) Some 453 cultures had occasional open polygyny, and in 588 more it was quite common, while just four featured recognized polyandry. The biological case, however, is more nuanced, particularly when it comes to polyandry.

Meanwhile, polygamy has proven to be a suitable solution for infidelity and impossible expectations in marriages. Giving room to the option of having more than one wife takes the pressure, burden and responsibilities off just one woman to fulfill wife and mother duties in order to keep a home.

While is it normal not to be emotionally and sexually available to satisfy your partners needs, society frowns at it and pads it with the term sacrifice and responsibilities. However, a polygamous home helps solve these issues. The emotional rotation allows everyone the mental space to prepare themselves for such responsibilities and commitment in the process of their marriage, that is, “It is your turn to be a wife according to the roaster, then the cooking, emotionally and sexually satisfying the spouse falls on your shoulders for the allocated period of time”.

Also, polygamy helps minimize infidelity in marriages. The issue of serial cheating in marriages can be managed and curbed with the idea of polygamy, which in turn helps to prevent sexually transmitted diseases amongst married couples.

Polygamy goes a long way in reducing divorce rates, separation, single parenting in the society, emotional and psychological stability of all involved.

Marriage come with huge responsibilities and the idea of a lifetime commitment without crashes and loopholes is almost impossible to achieve by every individual. However, embracing polygamy isn’t fueling failed marriages, but rather opening it to a whole new world of effective compromise.
