‘Regain past glory’ Oyo State gov, Makinde, gives reason Nigeria must be restructured

Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde has pledged that his administration will continue to identify, encourage and support creative-minded youths to grow businesses.

This was coming after the governor on Saturday declared that Nigeria must be restructured to help the nation regain past glory.

Makinde, at the unveiling of a digital television outfit, SATVIEW Network, said it was unbelievable that Nigeria, which had the first television station in Africa, now relies on foreign television networks.

According to a statement by spokesman Taiwo Adisa, Makinde stated that the campaign for a reformed Nigeria is aimed at restoring the first generation leaders’ legacy of firsts.

“We are advocating for a reformed country because the country was not overcentralised when we accomplished all of these firsts.

“We feel that if we push through the program to reorganize the country, we will be in a better position for individuals to unleash their abilities, which would benefit not only the local economy, but also the African community as a whole.

“Oyo State, Ibadan precisely, hosted the first TV station in Africa. Almost all of us here have DSTV at home and the money we are paying to DSTV is going directly to South Africa because that is where the parent home is.
