The remains of Sylvester Oromoni, a late Dowen College student, have been released for burial by the Lagos State Police Command.
Adekunle Ajisebutu, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, said the release came after an autopsy on the body was completed to determine the cause and nature of death.
Sylvester’s body was transported from Delta state to Lagos on Monday for an autopsy at a public facility in the country’s commercial capital.
The autopsy was carried out in the presence of five parties: the victim’s parents, the parents of the alleged students, school officials, police investigators, and Lagos State government representatives.
The remains was returned to Delta State on Wednesday, where he would be laid to rest.
The outcome of the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of the young schoolboy is of great importance to the Lagos State Government.
But the result of the autopsy is yet to be released while the police investigation continues.
Sylvester was said to have died from the injuries sustained during an assault by five of his colleagues who wanted to initiate him into cultism.
As part of the means to get the deserved justice for the 12-year-old boy, the Oromoni family had demanded a coroner inquest into the student’s death.
This is even as the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, said that some students have been arrested for the alleged assault.
