‘You can’t determine who we fvck!’ Prostitutes confront police over arrest in Lagos

Two young sex workers, Amarachi Okafor, 20 and Gift Sunday,19, who were arrested for prostitution, have dared and told the Police that they cannot stop them from using their private parts as they like to get money from their clients in Lagos State.

According to a report, the suspects, Amarachi and Gift, stated this after they were arrested by the Police operatives from the Commissioner of Police Special Squad who raided a shanty brothel where they used for prostitution at Iju Road Railway in Abbatior area of Lagos.

The two suspects, Amarachi and Gift, were unlucky as they were arrested and taken to the Command while other sex workers managed to escape and were said to be at large.

The owner of the shanty, who recruited the workers, Yinusa Musa, was also arrested for aiding and abetting crime by renting out the place for prostitution and engaging the sex workers.

It was while they were arrested and detained at the Command for interrogation that the sex workers told the Police that it was their work and the Police cannot stop them because they do not have any other job to do in order to earn money daily.

The Police found them and the landlord, Musa, culpable and subsequently charged them before the Ogba Magistrates Court for conspiracy and other related offences.

They pleaded not guilty when they were arraigned.

The prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenije, granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood.

The matter was adjourned while the defendants were remanded in the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
