The Senate Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has been requested by the Niger Delta Peace and Development Advocates to move quickly on the Commission’s budget.
The NDPDA president, Comrade Kelvin Ebi-Thomas, expressed his disappointment at the committee’s delay in clearing the budget and claimed that it is having an impact on the commission’s operations in a statement made accessible to newsmen in Port Harcourt.
The statement claims that the significance of a budget cannot be overstated for the NDDC to function and provide the region’s residents with the development they so much need.

It appealed the President Muhammad Buhari and the President of the Senate, Senator Ahmed Lawan to prevail on the Senate Committee on Niger Delta to do the needful to enable the people of the region to enjoy the benefits of the commission.

The statement further reminded the Senate Committee on NDDC that the board is a product of agitations from the region, saying any attempt to hinder the progress of the commission may result in unwanted consequences.

They enjoined the committee to play its part in the sustenance of peace in the region by speedily passing the budget of the commission into law.
