Prominent Ifa priest, Chief Ifayemi Elebuibon, has stated that most Yoruba people adopting Christianity and Islamic religion are hypocrites.

He stated this during an interview when he was discussing the confusion surrounding the burial of the popular Nollywood actor, Murphy Afolabi when the Muslim community refused to handle the burial rites.

It was claimed that because late Afolabi was accused of being an idol worshiper, it would be inappropriate for him to buried in an Islamic way.

Chief Elebuibon opined that it is only the Almighty God that can determine who would eventually be in hell as all religions were created by this same God in accordance to the disparities in race and cultures.

“I told the person who called me that the Muslims said they won’t bury Afolabi that nobody knows what we all do in the secrecy of our homes. There are people we believe are good people outwardly but are something else in the dark.

“If someone is an idol worshiper on earth and then is found sitting in the right hand side of the almighty in heaven, what would you do?” he asked.

While talking on the late Afolabi, the Ifa priest confirmed that he was not his blood relation as erroneously believed by many.

“I was in Atlanta Georgia in the US when one of his colleagues informed me of his demise. He told me that they would be taking his remains to Osogbo but I advised that they need to get clearance from his family before embarking on the trip from Lagos.

“He later called back to ask how he would be buried traditionally as the imams were refusing to conduct the burial rite. I told him I would call some people at the temple and instruct them on what to do because his father was an Araba too.

“His father, Fabunmi Afolabi, was one of my predecessors as Araba and he was one of the elders in the Awo cult. We became close because I was one of those instrumental to his achieving the title of Araba. Hence, we established close family ties.”

Chief Elebuibon also clarified that it wasn’t Murphy’s father that was his Ifa tutor but late Faniyi Ajani.

“Late Agbongbon Awo Osogbo, Faniyi Ajani, was my Ifa tutor. The report by BBC Yoruba that I was the one that tutored Murphy, and that his father tutored me was a misinformation,” Araba said.

He touched on other interesting topics which included the new king of England. Watch the full video below.
