In continuation of his strategic moves toward promoting the interest of the Yoruba tribe, a bill sponsored by the former governor and current member representing Ogun East at the national assembly, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has passed first reading at the senate.

Southwest Development Commission bill seeks to establish a commission charged with the responsibility of receiving and managing funds from the federal government among other things. It would also address infrastructural and ecological challenges in the region.

It is believed that the establishment of this commission would guarantee funds for the development of the South-west region as a whole.

“The process of rethinking Nigeria starts today as I had the privilege to read the South West Development Commission Bill that I sponsored before the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“I thank all the Senators from the South West region who are co-sponsors of this long overdue initiative in the best interest of South West and our dear country, Nigeria,” Sen. Daniel wrote about the bill.

Southwest Development Commission

Already, Nigeria has development commissions for the Niger Delta and the North-East.

The South-west zone consists of Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, and Ekiti states.
