The Prayer and Support for the Nigerian Armed Forces and other Security Agencies (PNAFSA) organization has expressed its deepest condolences to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, and the entire Nigerian Army, following the tragic loss of several Army personnel in Niger State over the weekend.

On Sunday, August 13, 2023, and Monday, August 14, 2023, brave soldiers of the Nigerian Army tragically lost their lives while on duty in Niger State. PNAFSA pays tribute to their unparalleled bravery and dedication to safeguarding Nigeria’s unity and security.

According to a release made available to Freelanews by the convener, Mary Abayomi-Fatile, these courageous soldiers exemplified unwavering commitment in the face of relentless acts of terror, armed banditry, separatist agitation, and other violent crimes. Despite the danger they faced, they fearlessly responded to a distress call in Niger State, only to be ambushed by armed bandits.

“Their resilience and determination shone through as they neutralized 50 non-state actors with the assistance of a local vigilante group. Their selfless act of sacrifice serves as a poignant reminder of the unwavering dedication of the Nigerian Armed Forces in protecting innocent Nigerians,” Abayomi-Fatile wrote.

PNAFSA stands in solidarity with the families of these fallen heroes, who are undoubtedly devastated by this tragic news and now face an irreplaceable void in their lives. The organization emphasizes the urgent need for collective efforts in the battle against insecurity in Nigeria.

While the military and security agencies remain resolute in their defense of the nation, PNAFSA stresses that every patriotic Nigerian should actively contribute to these efforts. Security is a responsibility that cannot be shouldered solely by the armed forces and security agencies.

As the nation mourns the loss of these brave soldiers, the group called on all Nigerians to remember their sacrifice and continue to support and pray for the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies.

“Together, we can work tirelessly to protect our nation and its citizens from the scourge of insecurity,” she said.

PNAFSA, an organization dedicated to showing solidarity, providing support, and offering prayers for the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies, believes in the power of collective action and recognizing the sacrifices made by our brave men and women in uniform.
