OYETOLA OSUN STATE GOVERNOR PS

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba AbdulRasheed Akanbi, has allegedly solicited for the support of the executive governor of Osun State, Adegboyega Oyetola, to marry a new wife.

In a letter, allegedly addressed to the governor, with reference number HIM/TELU/ 1/14 and dated February 8, 2022, it noted that the purpose of the letter was to notify the governor about the wedding and solicit his financial support for the event.

“I have the instruction of His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Abdul-Rasheed Adewale Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwo, to notify you of the Oluwo’s decision to marry a Princess from Kano Emirate to be precise Ado Bayero dynasty,” the leaked letter read.

The document, which was allegedly acknowledged by the state’s Special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affair, informed the governor that such event between two notable traditional institutions calls for huge expenses.

“I wish to remind your Excellency that this kind of royal wedding involving two notable traditional institutions in Nigeria will require huge expenses, which necessitate support of the state government financially even logistically.

“Moreover, the estimated amount for the event is above (N20,000,000.00) Twenty Million naira.

“His Excellency, Oba Akanbi relies on your for necessary consideration and approval on this request,” the leaked letter concluded.

However, the monarch has denied writing Osun State Governor.

According to the Press Secretary to Oluwo, Alli Ibraheem, the palace did not author any letter.

He said, “We didn’t author any letter. The letterhead you saw is not the one used by Oluwo. Moreso, if Baba will write government, it will carry his signature.”

Oluwo’s marriage to his Jamaican wife, Ms. Chanel Chin, had crashed in December 2019.
