A 2015 statement by late Nigerian military officer Abubakar Rabe on terrorism has resurfaced online, prompting fresh public reactions

A 2015 statement attributed to late Nigerian military officer, General Abubakar Rabe, has resurfaced online following reports of his killing after being abducted by armed bandits, drawing renewed reactions to his past comments on Nigeria’s security situation.

In the statement, Rabe had expressed confidence in ongoing military operations against insurgency, insisting at the time that Nigerians should remain assured despite periodic displays by armed groups.

“The issue of terrorists celebrating Sallah shouldn’t bother Nigerians, we are winning the war against terrorism,” he said in 2015.

The comment has since gained traction on social media, with users revisiting Nigeria’s long-running battle against insecurity and reflecting on developments since the statement was made.

Reports indicate that General Rabe was later abducted and killed by armed bandits, a development that has intensified emotional reactions online as his earlier remarks circulate again.
