Nollywood actor Seun Jimoh has criticized the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly “scapegoating” celebrities in its crackdown on Naira abusers. His remarks come in response to reports that the commission plans to arraign popular socialite Cubana Chief Priest for Naira abuse, following the recent imprisonment of crossdresser Bobrisky for a similar offense.
Jimoh expressed his concern on Instagram, stating that it is unfair to single out certain individuals for a crime that a significant portion of Nigerians are guilty of, especially considering the abundance of video evidence available online.
He questioned why only celebrities are being targeted, emphasizing that celebrities are also citizens entitled to fair treatment. He criticized the “scapegoat approach” taken by authorities, suggesting that it lacks consideration for the mental well-being of Nigerian citizens.
