Aisha Achimugu: Abuja court approves final forfeiture of N4.3bn cars, N4.6bn jewellery

Justice Jude Onwugbuzie of the Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Apo, Abuja, has granted a final forfeiture order for assets linked to businesswoman Aisha Achimugu, following an application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The court order transfers the listed properties to the Federal Government after the EFCC sought permanent forfeiture of the assets.

The assets affected by the order include jewellery valued at N4.645 billion, eleven exotic vehicles worth N4.293 billion, $50,000 in cash and N30 million in cash.

The forfeiture order was granted on Thursday, July 16, 2026, during proceedings on the commission’s application for final forfeiture.

The court’s decision followed an earlier legal process in which the EFCC sought authority to permanently take control of the identified assets.

The luxury vehicles and valuables formed part of the properties presented before the court by the anti-graft agency during the forfeiture proceedings.

EFCC has continued to pursue asset recovery cases involving individuals and organisations where it alleges that properties may have been acquired through proceeds of unlawful activities.

The latest ruling represents a significant financial recovery action and places the affected assets under the control of the Federal Government.

Further details on the court’s reasoning and the EFCC’s submissions are expected as the full judgment becomes available.
