The EFCC football agent scam arrest followed claims that Etinosa, who allegedly operated an Instagram account posing as a football intermediary, deceived a victim with assurances of securing trials in Romanian and Bulgarian clubs.
According to the EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, the suspect collected the sum of N11 million from Samuel Beke Ohazuruike but failed to deliver on the promised opportunities abroad.
The EFCC football agent scam arrest was carried out by operatives of the Benin Zonal Directorate after investigations based on open-source intelligence traced the alleged fraudulent activity.
Authorities said repeated efforts by the victim to recover the funds proved unsuccessful, prompting a formal complaint that led to the suspect’s detention.
The commission confirmed that the suspect will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations, as part of efforts to clamp down on online fraud schemes targeting aspiring athletes.
