In a statement, Yesufu said her decision aligns with her continued support for Peter Obi, whom she described as representing the hope for a more functional Nigeria.

She said the next few days would be crucial for the country’s political direction, noting that her choice reflects a deeper commitment to her long-standing political beliefs.

“The next couple of days will define the future of this nation,” she said.

“Yes, I resigned from the African Democratic Congress to join the Nigeria Democratic Congress as I follow the leadership of HE Peter Obi, who embodies the hope and aspiration of a Nigeria that works.”

She added that her earlier move to the ADC was part of a commitment she made, which she has now fulfilled through a transition into the NDC.

According to her, the new political step is not only a party switch but also a formal declaration of her ambition to contest the FCT senatorial seat.

Yesufu stated that she has concluded all obligations with her former party to ensure a smooth and responsible transition.

She also expressed gratitude to colleagues she worked with in various capacities, including sub committee chair, deputy committee chair and secretary roles.
