Kebbi Road Damage Inspection by Governor Nasir Idris highlights urgent repairs after rainfall damaged key roads in Dandi communities

Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris on Thursday inspected roads damaged by heavy rainfall in Dandi Local Government Area, as residents and local officials called for urgent intervention to restore access and prevent further deterioration of key transport routes.

Governor Nasir Idris visited the Kingakwai–Fana–Dakingari Road and the Fana Township Road, both of which have been severely affected by flooding and erosion following persistent rainfall in the area.

During the inspection, the member representing the constituency in the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Suleiman Fana, alongside the Commissioner for Works, Abdullahi Umar Faruk, briefed Governor Nasir Idris on the extent of the infrastructural damage and its impact on movement between communities.

Officials confirmed that sections of the roads had suffered significant deterioration, disrupting transportation and limiting access for residents, traders and essential services across the affected areas.

Kebbi State road inspection visit also included technical recommendations from the Ministry of Works, with Abdullahi Umar Faruk advising the construction of additional culverts and improved drainage systems to reduce the risk of future erosion and flood-related destruction.

Governor Nasir Idris, who was accompanied by senior government officials during the visit, assessed the damaged locations and assured residents that the state government would take prompt action to address the situation.

The governor’s visit comes amid wider concerns over the vulnerability of road infrastructure across Kebbi State during the rainy season, with communities increasingly reporting disruption caused by flooding and poor drainage systems.

In a separate engagement during the visit, Governor Nasir Idris proceeded to Kamba town, where he paid a condolence visit to former Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Samaila Abdulmumin Kamba, following the death of his wife, Hajiya Fatima Abdulmumin, who passed away at the age of 65 and was buried according to Islamic rites.
