Alexer Pere custody decision shocks fans as Harrysong’s ex-wife cites emotional distress and pressure in an emotional social media video

Alexer Pere, the former wife of Nigerian singer Harrison Tare Okiri, popularly known as Harrysong, has announced her decision to temporarily relinquish custody of their two young children, describing the move as an emotionally devastating but unavoidable choice.

In a video shared on her Instagram story on Thursday morning, Alexer Pere said the decision followed years of emotional strain after her separation from the singer, adding that she had reached a breaking point.

Alexer Pere said she had been the primary caregiver to the children, aged four and three, since the separation, noting that they attend school from her home and only visit their father occasionally.

She accused Harrysong of persistent harassment and interference in her life, alleging that he regularly appeared at her residence without notice and made sustained efforts to frustrate her attempts to move forward.

According to Alexer Pere, the pressure intensified after her former husband filed a petition containing multiple allegations, which she said she would address at an appropriate time.

She said the temporary custody decision was made in order to protect her mental health, stressing that it did not signal an intention to abandon her children.

Alexer Pere also raised concerns about the children’s welfare, alleging that they would largely be under the care of domestic staff, as she claimed their father was frequently absent.

She disclosed that she previously lived in Asaba but relocated to Lagos after receiving threats that she said were intended to make life difficult for her if she remained there.

Acknowledging that her claims may be challenged publicly, Alexer Pere said she chose to speak out as a matter of self preservation rather than weakness.

She appealed for the safety of her children and reaffirmed her intention to reunite with them, saying no mother willingly chooses to live apart from her children.

Harrysong had publicly acknowledged marital difficulties in January 2024, at the time asking for privacy for his family during what he described as a challenging period.

Days later, Alexer Pere shared a cryptic message on social media indicating that the marriage had ended.
