Portable brain scan boxing match concern raised by Canada-based doctor after singer’s defeat to Carter Efe, warning of possible head injuries
A Canada-based Nigerian doctor, Arinze Onwumelu, has advised singer Portable to undergo a brain scan following his defeat in a celebrity boxing match against skit maker Carter Efe held in Lagos over the weekend.

Portable fight sparks brain scan advice, concern emerged after the exhibition bout went viral online, with many viewers reacting to the intensity of the contest and Portable’s loss in the highly publicised encounter.
In a video shared on social media, Dr Arinze Onwumelu, also known as Dr Zo, expressed concern over the potential impact of the blows sustained during the fight, urging immediate medical attention.
He recommended that Portable undergo a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan to rule out possible internal head injuries, stressing that some punches appeared to target sensitive areas of the head.
According to him, exhibition bouts are meant for entertainment and should not result in excessive physical harm, questioning whether proper safety instructions were followed ahead of the match.
The doctor warned that repeated or severe impacts could lead to serious complications if left unchecked, and insisted that medical evaluation should not be delayed.
He further called on organisers of celebrity boxing events to introduce stricter safety protocols, including mandatory protective gear, to minimise the risk of head injuries in future contests.
