SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the command’s spokesman, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Tuesday.
Ikenga explained that the suspect allegedly invaded a shop on October 29, armed with a locally made single-barrel gun and a small axe, and stole N30,000.
“He was said to have worn a red polo shirt fashioned into a face mask, abducted a 13-year-old girl, and took her to a nearby bush where he forcefully had unlawful carnal knowledge of her,” the statement added.
The police spokesman noted that the suspect, identified as Chigbo Umeugokwe, 20, voluntarily confessed during interrogations. Several items, including the gun, axe, and red polo shirt, were recovered from him.
Ikenga stated that the suspect will be arraigned in court on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, as part of the command’s commitment to ensuring justice for the victim and holding offenders accountable.
The police spokesman also recalled a previous case in October, in which a 23-year-old female suspect and an accomplice were arrested for armed robbery and kidnap.
The operation recovered a snatched Toyota Highlander SUV and N24 million taken from a victim in Idemili North LGA.
