Angel Smith queer identity statement sparks debate after her reported U.S. wedding to partner Tumininu

Reality television star Angel Smith has publicly reaffirmed her queer identity following reports of her wedding to her partner, Tumininu, in the United States.

Angel Smith addressed the speculation on X, formerly known as Twitter, where she pushed back against narratives linking her identity to her relationship status.

The BBNaija finalist stated that her sexuality has always been openly expressed, both before and after her rise to fame.

“And I have been openly queer before AND after I went for that show, please never attribute my greatness to a man, he could never have made me this cool, thangyaaaaa,” Angel Smith wrote.

The Angel Smith queer identity conversation intensified after videos and images surfaced online showing what appeared to be an intimate white wedding ceremony in the United States.

The event, attended by close friends and family, was described as minimalist yet stylish, with guests dressed in an all-black theme.

Footage shared via social media showed Tumininu in a tailored black suit paired with a white shirt and bow tie, while Angel Smith wore a simple but elegant white strapless mini dress, complemented by a veil and heels.

The couple had made their relationship public in 2025, frequently sharing affectionate moments online.

Reports indicate that the pair may have held a civil ceremony earlier in the year before the recent celebration.

Angel Smith’s statement has since sparked intense debate across Nigerian social media, with reactions sharply divided over her sexuality, her public stance and the broader cultural implications.

Supporters praised her bold and unapologetic tone, while critics questioned the timing and messaging.

Before her current relationship, Angel Smith was romantically linked to fellow reality TV personality Soma Anyama.

Their relationship, which began during the 2023 BBNaija All Stars edition, ended in early 2024 amid heavy public scrutiny.

Since gaining prominence as a finalist on the 2021 BBNaija Shine Ya Eye season, Angel Smith has established herself as a fearless voice in Nigeria’s entertainment space, blending reality television fame with writing and digital influence.
