All Progressives Congress releases screening timetable for National Assembly aspirants in Abuja

APC senatorial candidates list circulating online is fake, the party says, urging members and the public to disregard the publication

The All Progressives Congress has disowned a purported list of senatorial candidates circulating on social media and online platforms, describing the publication as fake and unauthorised.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the ruling party said its attention had been drawn to a document titled “Concluded List of APC Senatorial Candidates So Far”, which has been widely shared across digital platforms.

The APC stated that the publication did not originate from the party and should be disregarded by members, stakeholders, the media and the general public.

“The APC wishes to state that the said list is FAKE, and did not emanate from the Party,” the statement said.

The party stressed that the APC Senatorial Candidates List can only be officially announced through constitutionally recognised party structures and approved communication channels.

According to the APC, only the National Working Committee is empowered to release the names of candidates who emerge from its primary elections and other duly recognised processes.

The party noted that any publication outside its authorised channels should not be regarded as authentic.

The clarification comes amid increasing political activities and speculation ahead of future electoral contests, with unofficial candidate lists and endorsements frequently circulating online.

The APC warned that the spread of unverified information could create confusion among party members, mislead the public and undermine confidence in the party’s internal democratic procedures.

The party therefore urged its members and supporters to exercise caution before sharing political content whose authenticity has not been verified.

It also appealed to stakeholders to rely on official party communications for information relating to nominations, primaries and candidate selection processes.

“We urge all Party members and stakeholders to refrain from circulating unverified information capable of causing confusion, misleading the public or undermining the integrity of the Party’s democratic processes,” the statement added.

The APC reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and due process, assuring members that announcements concerning the APC Senatorial Candidates List and other electoral matters would be communicated through officially recognised platforms when appropriate.
