APGA begins nationwide electronic membership registration March 1, targeting two million members ahead of the 2027 general elections

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has announced that it will commence its continuous electronic membership registration nationwide on March 1, 2026, as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The disclosure was made on Friday in Awka by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Dr Ejimofor Opara, during a press conference.

Opara stated that the exercise would be conducted simultaneously across Nigeria’s 8,809 electoral wards, underscoring the party’s commitment to innovation, transparency, and inclusivity in its internal administration.

According to him, APGA became the first political party in Nigeria to automate its membership registration process in June 2024, describing the initiative as a pioneering move to enhance operational efficiency and broaden political participation.

“The electronic registration, which earlier commenced, will officially re-open on March 1 and is open to all interested Nigerians,” Opara said.

He explained that prospective members are required to present a valid voter’s card and two passport photographs to complete the process, which can also be done online through the party’s official website. Newly registered members will receive temporary membership slips pending the issuance of permanent cards.

Opara clarified that existing members who had already completed electronic registration are not required to re-register. However, they are encouraged to upload their passport photographs to update their records via the party’s website or designated WhatsApp platform.

The spokesman further disclosed that APGA is approaching the one-million membership mark and aims to increase its membership base to two million through the current drive.

He urged eligible Nigerians to take advantage of the initiative and join the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

“We invite all eligible Nigerians to seize this opportunity to join the APGA family and contribute to shaping the future of our great nation. Together, we move forward,” Opara said.
