[dropcap]A[/dropcap]postle Femi Lazarus, the lead pastor of Light Nation Church, has urged Nigerians to raise their voices against a proposed bill that seeks to arm road safety officials, warning it could escalate violence and lead to further brutality, as witnessed during the #EndSARS protests.

The bill, sponsored by Abiodun Adesida (APC-Ondo) and Olaide Muhammed (APC-Oyo), seeks to amend the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) Act, 2007, allowing officers to carry firearms.
The bill has already passed its second reading in the House of Representatives.
Lazarus expressed concern over the potential threat this poses to public safety, recalling the police brutality during the #EndSARS protests and warning that arming road safety officials could result in similar tragic outcomes.
He stressed that developed nations rely on advanced technologies, not firearms, to manage road safety, urging Nigeria to adopt similar practices to protect its citizens.
In his plea, Lazarus called on Nigerians to actively oppose the bill, cautioning that its passage could lead to unnecessary loss of lives, affecting families across the nation.

“We have witnessed too many deaths at the hands of trigger-happy officers—never again! May God bless us all in the name of Jesus,” he concluded.
