ASUU industrial crisis concerns have resurfaced as the Academic Staff Union of Universities urged the Federal Government to finalize all outstanding agreements with university teachers.

The union expressed frustration over repeated government flip-flops, which have eroded trust and morale among academic staff.
In a statement titled ‘Act Now To Avert The Looming Crisis,’ ASUU President Prof. Chris Piwuna criticized government agents for disregarding signed agreements and resorting to superficial measures.
Since 2012, repeated disputes have arisen from failures to honor conditions of service, university funding, autonomy, and academic freedom.
ASUU emphasized that selective renegotiation and partial implementation by governments undermine lecturers’ morale and hinder universities’ ability to fulfill their teaching and research mandates.
Calling on patriots to intervene, ASUU warned that unresolved labor issues threaten to spark another major industrial crisis within Nigeria’s university system.
