Babajide Sanwo-Olu Blue Line success marks 5 million safe rides in two years with no accidents, offering 50% fare cut to celebrate anniversary

The Babajide Sanwo-Olu Blue Line rail project has achieved a major milestone, transporting over five million passengers without a single accident since its launch in 2023.

The Lagos State Governor, on Wednesday, announced the achievement via his official X handle, calling it a testament to the success of safe and modern urban transit in Nigeria’s busiest city.

“In these two years, the Blue Line has carried more than five million passengers safely, without a single accident,” Sanwo-Olu wrote.

The Blue Line, which runs over 90 trips daily, now operates every 10 minutes, drastically reducing commute times for Lagosians.

The governor highlighted that journeys that once took hours now take mere minutes, helping to ease Lagos traffic congestion, one of the city’s major challenges.

“These achievements show that when we work with dedication and purpose, we can build systems that truly serve the people,” Sanwo-Olu added.

To celebrate the rail service’s second anniversary, the governor announced a 50% fare reduction** for all passengers on Thursday, September 4, 2025.

“If you have not yet experienced the Blue Line, I encourage you to take a ride and see what we have built together.”

Launched in 2023, the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Blue Line is part of Sanwo-Olu’s broader strategy to modernize public transportation in Lagos.

The project aims to provide a safe, clean, and efficient alternative to road travel in one of the world’s most congested cities.

Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed gratitude to Lagosians for their continued trust and support.

“This project belongs to all of us, and it is your belief in a greater Lagos that makes progress possible.”

The Babajide Sanwo-Olu Blue Line is more than just a train system—it’s a symbol of progress, safety, and urban innovation.

With zero accidents and over five million passengers served, it stands as a powerful example of what’s possible when vision meets execution.
