Barcelona Football Club completed the signing of German forward Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund on Thursday, July 23, 2026, in a reported €29 million ($33 million) deal including performance-related add-ons, as the La Liga champions strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season.

The signing will see the 24-year-old attacker join the Catalan club on a five-year contract running until June 30, 2031.

“Adeyemi becomes a new Barca player for the next five seasons, until June 30, 2031,” Barcelona said in an official statement confirming the transfer.

Adeyemi becomes Barcelona’s second major addition of the summer following the arrival of England international Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United, as manager Hansi Flick continues to reshape his attacking unit.

The German forward arrives at Camp Nou with a reputation for explosive pace, versatility and direct attacking play. Adeyemi can operate as a central striker or from either wing, giving Flick more flexibility in his attacking setup.

The move comes after Barcelona lost veteran striker Robert Lewandowski, while Marcus Rashford returned to Manchester United following the end of his loan spell, leaving the club seeking more depth and quality in attack.

Flick is familiar with Adeyemi’s abilities, having handed the forward his debut for the German national team in 2021.

Adeyemi joined Borussia Dortmund from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg in 2022 and scored 36 goals in 146 appearances across all competitions during his four-year spell with the Bundesliga club.

His speed and ability to create chances were among the qualities that attracted Barcelona, who are looking to maintain their dominance in Spain while improving their competitiveness in Europe.

Barcelona’s summer recruitment drive is expected to continue, with the club also pursuing Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez as another key attacking target.

The signing adds another exciting attacking option to Flick’s squad and highlights Barcelona’s ambition to build a younger, more dynamic team capable of competing on multiple fronts.
