The police confirmed that 20-year-old Halima Maina was taken into custody after allegedly stabbing Aisha Musa multiple times at her residence in the Njentilo area on Monday afternoon.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. when Maina reportedly entered Musa’s room without permission and attacked her with a knife.

The victim sustained serious injuries to her stomach, chest, back, and face.

A post by Makama on X detailed the harrowing attack, highlighting the victim’s critical condition.

Musa was rushed to Umaru Shehu Ultra Modern Hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment and responding to medical care.

State police spokesperson Nahum Kenneth confirmed the arrest and said the police had recovered exhibits linked to the attack. “Investigation is ongoing into the incident,” he added.

This case contributes to a worrying rise in violent assaults, many involving women, with domestic disputes and jealousy often cited as triggers.

Earlier this month, the Yobe State Police Command opened an investigation into the discovery of a female corpse near the Federal University in Gashua, underscoring concerns about rising violence in the region.

Authorities have called for calm and urged the public to assist with any information to ensure justice is served.
